Mera Bhai is a producer, DJ & multi-instrumentalist, also known as a founding member of Psych band Flamingods & member of the internal team of Global Asian Underground collective Daytimers.
Born in London, with roots in India, alongside time spent growing up in Italy, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Nigeria, this worldly influence seeps into Mera Bhai’s unique take on dance music. Known for a wide range of selections from Nigerian afro-beat to Brazilian Funk, UKG to Techno, Mera Bhai is no stranger to taking his audience on a journey on the dancefloor.
He has just released a new EP, ‘Relax Into Yourself’ on his brand new imprint Morning Raga Records.
Mera Bhai has been dubbed one of DJ Mag Future Bubblers/One’s to Watch this year with heavy support from them, Mixmag, Ransom Note, BBC 6 Music and more.
“This era, late 70s – late 80s Kollywood and Bollywood to me is musical gold, and sampling gold especially. There is such a sense of excitement in production with synths and drum machines woven into traditional Hindustani and Carnatic styles. Musically Hindustani and Carnatic are very different, but the sense of Indo-Futurism from this era gave me the chance to glue these tracks together and take the listeners on a journey.”
