Prince · Funk Machine | Full Album
1977 Loring Park Office Sessions
Prince: Guitar, Keyboards
Andre Cymone: Bass
Bobby Z: Drums
The material of this album was recorded in 1977 at Loring Park Office of Prince’s 1st manager Owen Husney & comprises 8 funky jazz instrumentals. The session featured Andre Cymone on bass & Bobby Z on drums, with Prince on keyboards & guitar. The first release from our catalogue re-imagining project, ‘Funk Machine’ showcases Prince in a rare studion situation working through his songs & playing them straight after each other with a small band line-up. It marks 4 us the perfect start 2 kick off our journey through his vast catalogue with additional & extended albums, 2 get a deeper look in2 his vast body of work. There is even more material available that can b considered 4 a pre-Warner Bros. debut album, but the stark contrast 2 the following works & the rare insight in2 his working process tipped the favor 4 us towards this 1977 studio session.
